Sky Bet League One side Oxford United have completed the signing of Motherwell winger Marvin Johnson on a three-year deal, according to the club’s official website.
Michael Appleton has wanted to bring Johnson to the Kassam Stadium since the beginning of the transfer window, and the club have now completed the deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old burst onto the scene with the Scottish club after signing from Kidderminster, scoring five goals and claiming eight assists in the Premiership last season. He’s also started this campaign in prolific form, with three goals and three more assists in his five Scottish League Cup games.
It’s been a turbulent summer for Oxford, after losing star players Kemar Roofe and Callum O’Dowda to Championship sides Leeds United and Bristol City respectively.
In terms of wingers, the U’s have Chris Maguire, Alex MacDonald and new signing Rob Hall, but Johnson is the only one of those that prefers the left hand side.
The club have recruited well, however, bringing in 13 other players, including centre-backs Aaron Martin and Curtis Nelson.
