Done Deal: Oldham land Premier League defender on permanent deal

Published

on

Sky Bet League One side Oldham Athletic have announced on their official website that they have signed Cameron Dummigan from Burnley for an undisclosed fee.

Young defender Dummigan re-joins the Latics after a successful loan stint at Boundary Park last season. He played 27 games for Oldham in a profitable loan spell with the club, and bagged one goal.

Now, the 20-year-old has agreed permanent terms with Oldham, subject to approval from The Football League and the FA. He puts pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with the League One outfit, with the option of a further year extension.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international is representing his country at youth level this weekend, so will be unavailable for the clash against Shrewsbury Town, but will return after the international break to join up with the squad.

Dummigan becomes Oldham’s twentieth summer signing in a remarkable overhaul under Steve Robinson.

Latics fans will be hoping that he can inspire the team to maintain and improve upon their solid start to the League One season. Robinson’s men have picked up six points from their first five matches, and sit 13th in the division.
