Sky Bet League One outfit Oldham Athletic have signed Mark Yeates on a short-term deal, the side have officially announced.
The 30-year-old has been training with the Latics for a week, and was awarded with a contract- believed to be for one month – after completing a medical.
Athletic’s business this summer is far from done, as a search for a centre forward continues, while another centre-back might also be needed to add to Yeates and Timothee Dieng.
Club director Barry Owen has meanwhile confirmed that arrivals and departures could be expected ahead of the transfer deadline.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth system, Yeates became a free agent after Bradford refused to renew his contract, having scored five goals in 70 games for the Bantams.
The Irish winger spent a number of loan spells at different Championship clubs between 2002 and 2007, before a permanent move to Colchester United was agreed with the White Hart Lane outfit.
Yeates’ debut might come as soon as Saturday’s game against Bury. Extending his stay at Boundary Park may well be considered if he shows enough to earn himself a place in Darren Kelly’s side.
