Notts County have signed 20-year-old right back Wesley Atkinson on a one-year-deal with an option to extend the club have confirmed on their official website.
The youngster has spent all of pre-season on trial with the Magpies and has signed after impressing in their friendlies, after his release from Premier League West Bromwich Albion this summer.
Atkinson did spend time on loan in League Two last season with Cambridge United playing two times for them. The hard working defender will now be looking to force his way into Ricardo Moniz’ side after his impressive pre-season campaign.
The right back becomes Notts County’s fifteenth signing of the summer who are aiming to bounce back to League One at the first time of asking.
All of these new additions, if they can come together and play well, can surely only be good things for the Magpies for the forthcoming season.
It was a shock to many fans to see England’s oldest club drop down to Sky Bet League Two, but with the addition of Atkinson and especially ex-Bradford City striker Jon Stead – the club should be in good condition to challenge at the top of the table.
