Nottingham Forest have announced the arrival of Liam Bridcutt from Leeds United on the clubâs official website.
Mark Warburtonâs side have moved to sign Bridcutt for an undisclosed fee from Leeds, with the midfielder agreeing a three-year deal at the City Ground.
Reporters close to Leeds understand that the fee is around £1m.
Bridcutt had been at Elland Road for almost two-years, having joined from Sunderland initially on-loan, before making that move permanent last summer.
Despite captaining Leeds to seventh in the Sky Bet Championship last season, Bridcutt found his opportunities limited at the start of this year under a new head-coach.
Thomas Christiansen has opted for a midfield partnership of Kalvin Phillips and Eunan OâKane so far this season, whilst Mateusz Klich and Ronaldo Vieira are also competing for a starting berth.
Bridcuttâs only appearance so far this season came in the Carabao Cup tie with Port Vale, when he appeared as a second-half substitute in Leedsâ 4-1 victory.
His appearance in that cup tie means he will not be able to feature in Forestâs clash with Newcastle United in the second-round of the Carabao Cup.
Bridcuttâs Forest debut could coincidently come against Leeds on Saturday, where Warburtonâs side will be looking to continue their fantastic start to the season against the unbeaten Whites.
The Verdict
This is an excellent addition to Warburtonâs squad, with Bridcutt having the potential to be a key influence at the City Ground, just as he was at Elland Road.
There is no doubt that Leeds will have been keen to keep hold of Bridcutt, but the midfielderâs move is understandable, with his opportunities looking limited at Elland Road and his desire to play first-team football.
Bridcutt will have an opportunity to show Leeds just what they are missing on Saturday, where he will be crucial to Forestâs chance of continuing their impressive start.
