The 25-year-old moves to the City Ground on loan until the end of the season, and will be available for selection when Forest travel to Queens Park Rangers after the international break.

The Cape Verde international, who has made 22 appearances for his country, will certainly bring some much needed flair and creativity to a Forest side who are lacking goals, following the deadline-day departure of star winger Michail Antonio, and the continued absence of Britt Assombalonga through injury.

Since Mendes’ move from Le Havre to Lille in 2012 for a fee of £2.5 million, the 25-year-old has made 66 appearances for the French club, including games against some of Europe’s elite, most notably Bayern Munich and Valencia in the UEFA Champions League.

Mendes certainly brings a wealth of experience to the City Ground in what has still been a short career, and his pace and skill could cause havoc among defences in the Championship this season.

Nottingham Forest fans… What do you make of the news? Are you happy with your two new signings? Can Mendes and Oliveira’s experience help you achieve your goals this season?
