Nottingham Forest have added to their ranks by completing a double swoop for winger Ashkan Dejagah and goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, the club has confirmed on their official website.
Dejagah hasn’t played in England since a 43-game stint at Fulham back in 2012 but brings pace, athleticism and flair to the Forest ranks, joining the East Midlands-based club as a free agent.
He has been without a club since leaving Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg in the summer and pens terms at the City Ground until the end of the season.
Man mountain goalkeeper Pantilimon also signs for the club until the end of the campaign after penning loan terms from La Liga-based club Deportivo La Coruna.
The Romanian international boasts Premier League experience with Watford and Manchester City, whilst the 30-year-old must be seen as a bit of a coup for the Reds, who have been heavily linked with a series of goalkeepers since the summer transfer window.
Both new signings will be thrown straight into contention for their debut’s against Dejagah’s former club Fulham on Saturday.
Both of these signings come with an element of intrigue for Nottingham Forest supporters, although the duo do have decent pedigree when it comes to English football.
Naturally the jury will be out on Dejagah given that he is yet to play first-team football yet this season, but there is little denying the talent which former Manchester City custodian Pantilimon possesses.
The strapping goalkeeper will surely become the club’s number one goalkeeper for the remainder of the campaign, following some below-par performances from current stopper Jordan Smith.
