Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of former Everton striker Apostolos Vellios from Greek outfit Iraklis Thessaloniki, the club has confirmed on their official website.
The target man has put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract with the East Midlands-based club and becomes new boss Philippe Montanier’s first summer signing.
The Greek striker arrives at the City Ground on the back of a successful season in 2015/16, netting 11 times in the Greek Super League for Thessaloniki, arriving in the Championship with big potential.
Forest spent last season under a transfer embargo and the £1 million signing of Vellios indicates the start of a rebuilding process for head coach Montanier, who arrived at the club on Monday.
During his spell with Everton back during the 2011/12 campaign he netted in just his second game against Wigan Athletic and also in a game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
He was the Toffees’ Young Player of the Year for the season and the Forest faithful will be hoping he can fire the club towards the higher echelons of the Championship.
Nottingham Forest fans, what do you make to this signing? Can Vellios be a hit in the Championship?
