Alex Tettey has signed a new contract at Norwich City, the club's official website has confirmed.

Norwich midfielder Tettey has put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal at Carrow Road, extending his stay with the East Anglia club until the summer of 2020.

The central midfielder has been at Norwich since completing his switch from French side Rennes in 2012 and he has stayed with the club throughout their time in both the Premier League and Championship.

Tettey has amassed a total of 177 appearances for the Canaries in all competitions, scoring six goals.

This is including three goals in 71 Premier League outings and he has played 27 matches this year for Daniel Farke's side.

The Norway international has been an integral part of Norwich's plans over the past few years, providing protection for the defence with his displays in defensive midfield.

The 32-year-old told Norwich City TV: "I'm very happy to have signed because since I've been here, I've enjoyed myself.

"It's been a couple of months where there has been a lot of thinking with my family so I'm pleased it is now done. Norwich is a family club and that suits me a lot."

Tettey's contract was due to expire this summer, meaning he would become a free agent, but he has now committed his future to Norwich.

The Verdict

This is fantastic news for Norwich fans. Tettey has been so important for the club with his defensive contributions in midfield. He reads the game well and his experience is likely to help all of the young players at the club.
