Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Harrison Reed from Southampton, with the youngster arriving at Carrow Road on a season-long loan.

Reed becomes Daniel Farke’s fifth summer signing since his appointment as manager, and follows Marley Watkins, Angus Gunn, Mario Vrancic and Christoph Zimmermann to Carrow Road.

The 22-year old midfielder is a product of Southampton’s famed academy, and has made 17 Premier League appearances for the Saints, since breaking onto the scene in 2013.

Mauricio Pellegrino, Southampton’s manager, was happy for Reed to leave the south-coast this summer in search of regular first-team football, before heading back to St Mary’s next year.

Norwich reportedly beat a number of clubs to secure Reed’s signature, and the 22-year old will add competition to the Canaries’ midfield, which is set to lose a number of key members in the coming months.

Jonathan Howson and Graham Dorrans are both expected to leave Carrow Road this summer, which will leave Farke short of options in central midfield.

Howson is poised for a £5m move to Middlesbrough, where he will link-up with Garry Monk at the Riverside Stadium, whilst Dorrans is set to return to Scotland, with Rangers close to securing a deal for the 30-year old.
