Crawley Town have confirmed the signing of striker Rhys Murphy from non-league side Forest Green Rovers.

This will be Murphy's second loan spell with the League Two side, after he spent time on loan at the Broadfield Stadium from Oldham for three months in 2015 where he bagged 9 goals in 15 league matches.

The striker had a short spell on loan with National League strugglers York City, however he failed to score during his time at Bootham Crescent. Before his loan with York he was in prolific form for parent club Forest Green, contributing 7 goals in 17 games.

Murphy is a widely experienced professional and began his career with Premier League giants Arsenal. He has gone on to play for 8 different clubs including Preston, Brentford and AFC Wimbledon, who he helped win the League Two play-offs last season.

Crawley Town sit in mid-table in League Two with 10 wins from 26 games in 2016/17. Dermot Drummy's side are only 7 points from the play-offs and if Murphy can hit the great goal scoring for he showed in his first spell with Crawley then they could make a late push.
