Done Deal: Newcastle United winger completes move to League One leaders

Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi has joined Bolton Wanderers on-loan until Monday 2nd January, the clubs’ website has confirmed.

Ameobi, who spent the entire season on-loan at Cardiff City last time out, wasn’t allocated a squad number for the upcoming season and he was widely expected to leave the club at some point this summer.

He hasn’t featured for the Magpies for over 15 months, with his last first-team appearance coming in May last year. He’s featured 67 times for the first-team, scoring four times during a five year stint.

But it is League One leaders Bolton that have won the race for his signature, who will hope the 24-year-old’s experience will help them bounce straight back into the Championship at the first attempt.

Bolton have been extremely busy in the transfer window on deadline day, bringing in James Henry from Wolves, Keshi Anderson from Crystal Palace, Ben Alnwick who was unattached and finally, Sammy Ameobi.

Newcastle fans, will you miss the pacy winger or do you have better quality in the side these days?

Bolton supporters, is this the sort of player who can get you promoted back to the Championship at the first attempt? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
