Done Deal: Newcastle United midfielder departs the club for League One

It was confirmed earlier today that Liam Smith has joined Blackpool on loan from Newcastle United until May 8th.

The 20-year-old midfielder who was born just south of the Tyne has joined Blackpool to gain some valuable experience and regular first team football.

Smith will slot straight into the Seasiders midfield and as a ball playing midfielder with creativity and excellent technical ability, he will have Blackpool fans on the edge of their seat.

As well as being technically excellent, Smith likes to make late runs from midfield and he could also contribute much-needed goals for Blackpool as they currently sit in the relegation zone.

Although Smith has been plagued with injuries over the past two years, he has come back stronger and as a life-long Newcastle fan, he will be hoping that a successful loan spell at Blackpool could be the catalyst he needs to propel himself towards Newcastle’s first team set up.

Smith may provide the much-needed quality that Blackpool has been lacking and help them bridge the two point gap on Shrewsbury to secure their League 1 future.

So what do you think Blackpool fans? Is Smith a good acquisition? Could he make the difference and provide the much-needed quality required? Let us know, comment below!
