Millwall have completed the permanent signing of Newcastle United’s Shane Ferguson on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell, the club confirmed on their official website.
The 24-year-old has already played 28 times in all competitions for The Lions this season and has now extended his stay at The Den by signing an 18-month contract.
The Northern Ireland international will add quality and versaility to Neil Harris’ squad, and Ferguson admitted his delight at signing a permanent deal with the club.
He told Millwall’s website: “It’s a relief to get the deal done. I’ve been keen to get everything sorted and I’m now really looking forward to my future with Millwall.
“I’ve loved every second of my time here so it was a no-brainer to sign on a permanent basis. My task now is to help Millwall get back where we belong, which hopefully can be done this season.”
Ferguson played 32 times for Newcastle in total since making his senior debut for the Premier League side in August 2010, although he had not featured for the Magpies since December 2012.
He spent the back end of the 2012-13 season and the entirety of 2013-14 on loan at Championship side Birmingham City, and spend almost the whole of last season out injured.
Millwall are currently sixth in League One, and will be hoping to challenge for a top six spot come the end of the season.
