Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Athletic Bilbao striker Kike Sola on loan until the end of the season, the club has confirmed on their official website.
Boro manager Aitor Karanka confirmed earlier this week that the 29-year-old was set to complete a move to Teesside, but he was doubtful of the move being completed in time for his side’s trip to Bristol City on Saturday.
However, the striker has been signed in time and he may be in the squad for Boro’s trip to Ashton Gate.
Kike Sola, joins following a frustrating 18 months with Bilbao, which has seen his first team opportunities limited due to injuries and competition from team mates.
He joins the side top of the Sky Bet Championship table and will compete for a place with namesake Kike, David Nugent and Christian Stuani.
He has struggled for game time this season but has scored four goal in eleven games in all competitions, averaging a goal every 108 minutes of competitive football.
