Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray has added some goalkeeping experience to his squad for the 2015/16 season with the signing of not one, but two ex-Championship custodians, BBC Sport have confirmed.
The first is former Burnley stalwart Brian Jensen who arrives on the back of a year with Crawley Town.
Affectionately known as ‘the beast’ Jensen will combine his playing duties with a role as the goalkeeping coach at the One Call Stadium.
The 40-year-old agreed terms yesterday evening on a one-year contract with the Stags and was a regular between the posts for Burnley during their Premier League campaign of 2008/09.
Murray’s second goalkeeping signing of the day came in the form of Glaswegian Scott Shearer who arrives following the termination of his contract at Crewe Alexandra.
Shearer became the club’s eleventh signing of the summer and boasts over 100 clean sheets during a career which has seen him play in England for Bristol Rovers, Wycombe Wanderers, Crawley Town, Rotherham United and more recently the Alex.
The 34-year-old has won no fewer than seven promotions throughout his career and will be gunning for number eight at the East Midlands outfit next season.
