Done Deal: Manchester United midfielder secures permanent switch away from club

Preston North End have sealed a deal for Manchester United midfielder Liam Grimshaw for an undisclosed fee, the club have confirmed.

The versatile midfielder looks to have snubbed a move to Scottish Premiership Motherwell in favour for the Championship side.

Grimshaw has been on loan at Motherwell this season, making 16 appearances for the Scottish side.

His spell was cut short in Scotland after being recalled by United and Motherwell boss, Mark McGhee wanted to make his loan spell permanent this month.

The 20-year-old has regularly featured in the Manchester United under 21 squad and was nominated for a Player of the Year award when United won the title.

Preston have been inconsistent this season and have dipped into Manchester United’s up and coming talent, by bringing in youngster Ben Pearson to the squad this week.

They will be hoping that the pair can strike up a good understanding to ensure their Championship status for next season.

Preston currently occupy 13th place in the Championship – eleven points adrift of the drop zone.
