Sky Bet League One outfit Wigan Athletic have strengthened their squad with the signing of Manchester United defender Donald Love, the club have confirmed via their official website.
The full-back is a Scotland Under-21 international and joins Gary Caldwell’s team for the next two months.
The 20-year-old is an unknown quantity to many although boss Caldwell has clearly identified the player as the man to fill the need for a full-back within his squad.
Primarily a right-sided defender Love will go straight into the squad for Wigan’s important home game with Walsall, who are flying in League One this season.
Despite playing his youth football for Scotland, Love was born close to Wigan in nearby Rochdale and signed professional terms for Premier League giants Manchester United in 2013, although he is yet to make his first-team debut.
Caldwell is naturally delighted to secure his latest signing and was talking to club’s media team this afternoon.
He said: “He is a young player still learning but we have had him watched and we believe he has immense potential. He’s quick, strong and can play in several different positions defensively.”
The Latics currently sit in ninth place in Sky Bet League One, having accumulated 15 points from ten league games so far this season.
