Done Deal: Man United man secures Championship switch

Aston Villa have today made their first addition of the January window, bringing in Manchester United goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone on loan until the end of the season, the club’s official website confirmed.

Johnstone arrives at Villa Park on the back of six months without playing a competitive match, and he will be keen to impress Jose Mourinho ahead of his return to Old Trafford in the summer.

Mourinho has previously spoken of how he would like to get Johnstone out on loan to gain some first team experience, and Villa seems to be the perfect place for him to do so.

Steve Bruce has been chasing the United shot stopper for a while now and he must be delighted to have finally landed his man.

It has been no secret Bruce has been trying to bring a goalkeeper in, to replace Pierluigi Gollini who obviously hasn’t instilled Bruce with much confidence.

Johnstone does have experience at Championship level, he has spent time with Doncaster and most recently Preston North End, so he definitely knows his way around the Championship.

Villa fans… What are your thoughts on this signing? Will he be your number one for the rest of the season? Let us know your thoughts below!
