The 22-year-old becomes the Glovers’ 13th summer signing as Paul Sturrock rebuilds his side following last season’s relegation.

The centre-back, who can also play at right back and defensive midfield, has spent his entire career with the Hatters since coming through the youth set-up at Kenilworth Road, but spent loan spells with Cambridge City, Eastbourne Borough, Thurrock and Eastleigh in non-league.

He was transfer listed at the end of the season by Hatters boss John Still, and the move ends his eight year tenure with the club.

The two-year deal given to the defender takes Paul Sturrock’s side up to 18 players as he aims to gain promotion back to League One.

“I am delighted to secure the signing of Alex. He is a natural talent that has played fairly regularly in League Two, I feel he has massive potential and I hope we all get to see that potential,” Sturrock told the club’s official website.

But there is no guarantee that Lacey will step straight into the starting eleven as Stephen Arthurworrey, Jakub Sokolik and Omar Sowumni will all be competing for the central defensive role at Huish Park.
