Leeds youngster Kalvin Phillips has signed a new three-year deal at Elland Road with the 20-year-old pledging his future to the club, the club have confirmed.
Phillips is a product of the Leeds academy and made 10 appearances this season after making his breakthrough in the 14/15 season.
He joins a long line of successful Leeds youngsters that have burst into the first team including Charlie Taylor, Alex Mowatt and Lewis Cook.
Speaking to the club site, Phillips said: “I’m buzzing, it’s a great achievement for me and my family” he told reporters after signing the new deal.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about him and that he’s good with the young players. He’s obviously a good manager who has managed at the highest level”.
“Personally, I want to do better than last season and get more game time. I want to be playing consistently and perform well when I get the chance.
“I’ll be working as hard as I can to get that opportunity.”
New Leeds United manager Garry Monk will be looking to guide the Whites to the top six in the Sky Bet Championship next season, and securing a deal for Phillips is certainly a good start.
