Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts has left the club to join Lincoln City on loan.

The Imps have confirmed the news and the 20-year-old now gets an opportunity to garner some first-team minutes in Michael Appleton's high-flying Lincoln side.

The versatile midfielder who can also operate at full-back is highly rated at Elland Road and won the club's Academy Player of the Year award.

Speaking to the Imps' official website, Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton had this to say on the completion of the transfer:

"Robbie’s very versatile in terms of his ability to play in midfield or at full back. He’s got bags of quality in possession of the ball and he’s got the energy and athleticism to get up and down the pitch too.

"Overall though he’s just another really good addition and the fact that it’s his first loan away quite excites me too because he's desperate to impress and desperate to impress his new teammates as well.”

Gotts was the subject of interest from an array of EFL clubs over the summer, with Swindon Town, Sunderland, Charlton and Huddersfield Town just some of the clubs linked with a move for the 20-year-old.

However, he has now ended up at Lincoln City and becomes part of a squad that are certainly looking up rather than down in League One after an impressive start to the season for the Imps.
