Done Deal: League Two Stevenage complete transfer of 6ft 4in Reading striker

League Two outfit Stevenage have completed the signing of Reading’s 23-year-old striker Rowan Liburd, according to the club’s official website.

Liburd joined the Royals in 2015 from non-league outfit Billericay Town, where he had impressed with an excellent goalscoring record.

Reading were hoping that the 6 foot 4 inch tall target man would have a similar rise to power as Jamie Vardy, who joined Leicester from non-league Fleetwood Town for a non-league record £1 million fee, and the rest is history.

However, it didn’t go as hoped, and despite an impressive scoring record for the club’s under-21 side, Liburd made just 3 appearances for the Royals after making his debut in a 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City.

He went out on loan to Wycombe Wanderers in League Two towards the end of the season, but failed to make a real impact.

The striker will now have another chance to build up his career from the fourth tier of English football with his new club Stevenage.
