Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Gwion Edwards from Peterborough for an undisclosed fee.

In a statement on the Ipswich official website, the club formally unveiled the 25-year-old as their third signing of the summer transfer window so far.

Edwards joins Jordan Roberts and Trevoh Chalobah at Portman Road, who both signed for the Tractor Boys earlier in the window.

The midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal, with the Blues having the option of a further year, which could see Edwards remain an Ipswich player until 2021.

The Welshman started his career at the Liberty Stadium, but failed to make an appearance for Swansea City, before spells with St Johnstone and Crawley Town.

After Edwards made a permanent move to Peterborough in 2016, he has gone on to make 59 appearances for the Posh, scoring eleven goals.

The Verdict

Ipswich have been busy in the transfer window so far, and look like they’ve got themselves yet another strong signing in Gwion Edwards.

The ability and versatility that Edwards will bring to the Ipswich team this coming season could be a real factor in having a successful campaign.

It is hard to knock the work of Paul Hurst so far this summer, and I, along with the Ipswich Town faithful, am looking forward to seeing what his side will bring to the Championship this season.
