The deal has been extended to run until 2018 and there is also an option for a further year.
Skuse said to the Ipswich official site: ”Obviously i’m thrilled to have signed a new contract”.
”I knew my contract was up at the end of this season but the gaffer and the owner made it clear they wanted to keep me and I’m delighted it has been sorted that my future is here for another three years”.
The 29-year-old signed for Ipswich Town in 2013 following a spell with Bristol City in which he made over 250 appearances for the side, where the Englishman was an academy graduate.
Now the workman like midfielder has nearly made 100 appearances for the Tractor Boys, having made his 98th appearance against Huddersfield last Saturday.
Mick McCarthy is clearly a fan with Skuse often being a mainstay in the team. His high work ethic and willingness to fight for the course is something McCarthy loves to look for in a player.
The 6ft 1 player is clearly enjoying life at Portman Road, admitting: ”I’ve loved my time here. I never realised what a big club Ipswich is until I came here. The support the Club enjoys is fantastic and hopefully we can get where we all want to be, the Premier League.”
