Stuart Dallas has agreed a new contract with Leeds United, ending speculation surrounding his future, reports the club’s official website.

The midfielder’s contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, and Norwich City were reportedly lining up a move for Dallas who has impressed during his time at Elland Road.

However, the Northern Irish international has ended any speculation by becoming the latest Leeds player to commit his long-term future to the Whites.

Dallas has agreed a new three-year deal with Thomas Christiansen’s side, committing himself to Leeds until the summer of 2020.

The 26-year-old is one of Leeds’ longest serving players, having been at Elland Road since the summer of 2015, when he joined the Yorkshire club from Brentford.

Since then Dallas has gone on to make 90 appearances for Leeds, scoring nine goals from midfield.

So far this season Dallas has struggled to break into Christiansen’s starting XI, with the likes of Samuel Saiz, Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski all preferred.

However, the winger has made an excellent contribution from the bench and in the Carabao Cup, making six appearances and scoring one goal, which came in Leeds’ 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

Dallas is set to spend the week with Northern Ireland on international duty.

The Verdict

This is news that will delight Leeds’ supporters, as there was fear that Dallas could turn his back on the Whites and go in search of regular football elsewhere in the Championship.

Whilst the Northern Irishman is not a regular starter under Thomas Christiansen, he is still a valued member of Leeds’ squad and has a huge role to play at Elland Road this season.

If Dallas can continue to impress when given an opportunity by Christiansen, there is no doubt he will soon be pushing for a place in the starting XI.
