Sky Bet League One side Sheffield United have completed the signing of David Edgar from Birmingham City, the club have confirmed.
Edgar had fallen out of favour at St Andrews under Gary Rowett and has been allowed to join the Blades on loan for the rest of the season.
The Canadian international had attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs although Adkins has now moved quickly to add to his backline following Saturday’s 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Gillingham.
The Blades were humiliated on Saturday at the Priestfield Stadium by Justin Edinburgh’s Gillingham side, in a game that shocked many fans of Sheffield United, and Football League fans in general.
Edgar predominantly operates in a central defensive role, although he is also comfortable at full-back or in defensive midfield.
Boss Adkins will hope the captain of the Canadian national team can help tighten his back line and add experience to his squad as well as versatility.
Edgar began his career with Newcastle United before joining Burnley and then onto the Blues.
Sheffield United fans… Will Edgar be a good signing? What happened on Saturday? Was that result just a blip? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
