Hull City have signed Sebastian Larsson on a free transfer, the club's official website has confirmed.

Seb Larsson was offered a new deal by Sunderland but opted to leave the club at the end of his contract.

Rather than sign fresh terms at the Stadium of Light, Larsson has put pen to paper on a one year deal at Hull City.

Hull have added the extremely experienced and versatile midfielder to their ranks for the 2017/18 campaign.

The 32-year-old has 90 caps for Sweden under his belt, as well as over 500 senior appearances to his name.

The Swede has spent his whole professional career in England after coming through the ranks at Arsenal.

Hull City has become Larsson's fourth club after he spent time at Birmingham City and Sunderland, playing both Championship and Premier League football.

The Scandinavian midfielder has 282 Premier League appearances to his name, scoring 26 goals and also adding 26 assists in that time.

The Sweden international plays in a variety of positions across midfield - he is comfortable in the middle or on the wing.

Seb Larsson has a reputation for his set piece expertise and his ability to score free kicks.

Hull City have snapped up the in-demand free agent amid interest from other clubs, such as Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

The Verdict

Seb Larsson is an excellent addition for Hull City and just what they need.

He provides versatility, leadership, quality from set pieces and vital experience from the top two tiers of English football.

On a free transfer, this is top business by the Tigers and a shrewd addition for the Championship.
