Hull City have completed the signing of Stephen Kingsley from Swansea City, the Tigers have confirmed on the club’s official website.

The defender, who can play as both a left-back and centre-back, has arrived in East Yorkshire for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal with Hull, which also has the option of a fourth.

Kingsley had been on Swansea’s books since the summer of 2014, but he managed to make just 19 senior appearances for the Welsh outfit, with 17 of those coming in the top-flight.

The 23-year-old has had spells away from the Liberty Stadium before, spending time with Yeovil Town and Crewe Alexandra in 2015, where he made a combined total of 24 appearances in Sky Bet League One.

Whilst Kingsley is making the permanent switch from Swansea to Hull, Sam Clucas is a player making a move in the opposite direction, with the midfielder heading to the Liberty Stadium.

Clucas made 96 appearances for the Tigers since he arrived in 2015.

The midfielder featured in Hull’s first three Championship fixtures of this season, but was left out of Leonid Slutsky’s squad for last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

Clucas has agreed a four-year deal with Swansea and has moved for an undisclosed fee.

The Verdict

Hull fans will be pleased to see their club moving on from yet another departure.

Clucas will be missed at the KCOM Stadium, but Hull will be excited by the arrival of Kingsley, who could turn out to be the replacement for Andrew Robertson, who also left Hull earlier this summer.

Kingsley struggled for Premier League opportunities with Swansea, but he will benefit from regular football in the Championship and could turn out to be an excellent purchase for Hull.
