Gillingham have completed the signing of QPR defender Max Ehmer on a free transfer, confirming the deal on their official website.
The 23-year-old spent time on loan at Priestfield Stadium last season, making 27 appearances as the club recorded 12th placed finish in League One.
Following the impressive spell, Gills boss Justin Edinburgh has moved swiftly to secure a permanent deal for Ehmer, who has agreed a three-year deal with the Kent-based club.
The German defender began his career at QPR, but only ever played in one game for the club in six years.
He has also spent time on loan at Yeovil, Preston, Stevenage and Carlisle – making a combined total of 100 appearances.
Speaking to the club’s official website following the announcement of the deal, Gillingham boss Edinburgh expressed his delight at having secured Ehmer’s signature for the long-term.
“This is a great signing for us; I’ve made no secret of the fact that I had wanted Max to return if the opportunity came up and we have now reached an agreement,” he said.
“Max was an excellent performer during his time at the club last season and he will only get better over time.
“I’m delighted he is back with us and look forward to working with him once again.”
