Fulham have confirmed that they have brought Chelsea playmaker Lucas Piazon back to Craven Cottage on a second successive one-year loan deal.

The 23-year-old Brazilian spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan with Slavisa Jokanovic's free-flowing side, making 29 Championship appearances during his spell at the Cottage, finding the back of the net on 6 occasions, and laying on four assists.

The Whites manager was clearly impressed by the contribution of the Chelsea man, and has again moved to add him to a the squad he is building in preparation for another attempt to return to the Premier League.

Last season was the closest Fulham have come to a top flight return since their relegation at the end of the 2013/14 campaign, with an end of season flourish from the Cottagers, whose attractive possession game sparked into life at the business end of the season.

However, the season ultimately ended in heartache, with a 2-1 aggregate play off semi final defeat to Reading and Jokanovic will be hoping Piazon can make a signficant contribution as he aims to go one better this time around.

Piazon has only made three senior appearances for Chelsea during his career, but fears that he may become one of the Stamford Bridge club's many forgotten men may be partially allayed by the fact the Brazilian signed a new two-year contract with Antonio Conte's side just before making the move to the Cottage.

Piazon also offers an alternative to Jokanovic's current options, with his side lacking a true number 10 and offering predominantly pace in wide areas. Piazon's guile and passing ability may give opponents a different challenge.
