Fulham have confirmed that former Watford manager Slavisa Jokanovic as their new manager, after an extensive search that has spanned several weeks.

Several candidates have been examined, including Steve Clarke, who was manager of Reading at the time, Nigel Pearson, formerly of Leicester City, along with a host of other names, but Jokanovic has been deemed the right man for the job.

The Serbian manager was previously managing Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli top division, after a bizarre turn of events saw him leave Watford, despite leading them to the Premier League.

Reports as to why the Serb left varied, but it is believed that the owners of the club weren't willing to match his demands for a new contract with a 200% wage increase.

Despite only moving to Israel in the summer, the former Chelsea midfielder finds himself back in the Championship as he looks to turn around the Cottagers' disappointing season.

Jokanovic inherits a Fulham side sitting in 18th place, just 3 points clear of the drop zone, ahead of Tuesday's clash with a struggling Rotherham side.
