Done Deal: Former Marseille forward joins Carlisle United

Carlisle United have completed the signing of ex-Marseille Striker Kevin Osei, the club have confirmed.

The 24-year-old has been on trial at Brunton Park and has now signed a six-month deal after impressing manager Keith Curle, with head of recruitment Lee Dykes admitting to the official site: “We’ve known about Kevin for a while.”

Osei has not had much first team experience despite his age due to spending a lot of his time in France plying his trade with Marseille in the youth rank,s where he only managed to gain one senior appearance. The Ghanaian Striker has also appeared three times for French side Aviron Bayonnais.

Despite his lack of first team experience, the Carlisle management have clearly seen something good about the Ghanaian to sign him on a six-month deal and he must have something about him, if he was on the books at a massive club like Marseille for so long.

Carlisle struggled last season finishing 20th in League Two and the club will be looking to stay away from danger this season and perhaps even mount a challenge for the play-offs.

This kind of signing could help them do exactly this, and they will be hoping that the 24-year-old can find his shooting boots and give them the goals they need to make the much needed improvement.
