League One outfit Peterborough United have confirmed on their official twitter account the signing of experienced centre-back Steven Taylor, following his release from Ipswich Town at the end of last season.
The 31 year-old arrives at the ABAX Stadium on a two-year deal with an abundance of appearances behind him having spent thirteen years of his career at Newcastle United in the top-flight or Championship, racking up over 260 appearances for the Magpies prior to his untimely exit last summer.
Taylor’s exit from the north-east enabled a move to America where he endured a horrendous stint at Portland Timbers, swiftly returning to England and agreed a six-month contract at Ipswich.
Unfortunately for the former England under-21 international he suffered a four-week injury just two games into his career at Portman Road, and his struggle to recapture previous form led to the club deciding against renewing his stay.
Steven Taylor, who won promotion to the Premier League with Newcastle United seven years ago, joins Peterborough as the eighth addition through the doors and becomes a strong reinforcement for Grant McCann’s defence ahead of the 2017/18 League One campaign, which they kick-off at home to Plymouth Argyle next week.
