Premier League side Everton have won the race for Charlton Athletic's highly coveted England Under-19 international Ademola Lookman on a four-and-a-half-year deal, the official website has confirmed.

As one of the most highly rated and highly coveted young footballers in the Football League, it was inevitable that Ademola Lookman would depart from the South London club, the question was where would his next destination be.

The Merseyside club has developed a reputation of picking up bright young English talent from the lower leagues.

Ademola Lookman will be following in the footsteps of John Stones, Mason Holgate and most recently Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The figure is undisclosed for the England Under-19 international, and, it is yet to be seen if this will be paid in instalments and if Karl Robinson will be given the opportunity to spend some of it in the January transfer window.

The loss of someone of Lookman's calibre will be disappointing for Charlton and Addicks fans alike, however, it could give Karl Robinson the opportunity to impose himself and shape and strengthen his squad.
