Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of Sheffield United defender Craig Alcock on a permanent deal, BBC Sport have confirmed.
Alcock joined Rovers in November on a loan deal after finding first team opportunities at the Blades limited.
It had long been expected that his move might be made permanent as Sheffield United look to clear the decks after Nigel Adkins, confirmed his squad is too big.
Alcock, the former Peterborough full back, has made 10 appearances for Rovers since his November move, putting in largely solid displays which has convinced Ferguson he is of the right mould to make the move longer term.
Doncaster are currently 11th in League One table, six points off a play off place, and Ferguson no doubt will be hoping this addition can open the door to more as the window progresses.
Doncaster Rovers face Stoke City at home in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, and Rovers will be hoping to cause a shock cup upset.
