Derby County have completed the signing of Jack Marriott, the club's official website has confirmed.

Marriott pens a three-year deal with Derby after moving from Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be around £3m up front with add-ons rising to over £5m.

The 23-year-old was sought after this summer after impressing for Peterborough with a tally of 33 goals last season following his summer move from Luton Town.

Marriott's arrival could be followed by Martyn Waghorn, with the Ipswich Town forward also keen on linking up with Frank Lampard at Derby.

The 28-year-old's move to Derby hinges on whether Matej Vydra is sold.

Vydra netted 21 league goals for the Rams last season, earning the Championship's golden boot, and he is wanted by Leeds United and a number of other clubs this summer.

Marriott becomes Derby's fourth capture of the summer, following Mason Mount, Harry Wilson and Florian Jozefzoon through the door at Pride Park.

The Verdict

This could prove to be a fantastic signing for Derby.

Marriott is young and he clearly knows where the net is so he's likely to improve further when playing at a higher level.

If Vydra leaves, which is expected, Marriott has the attributes to replace the Czech Republic international's goals.
