Derby County striker Chris Martin has joined up with Nigel Adkins' Hull City on a season-long loan deal, as announced by the Tigers on Twitter.

29-year old Martin had found himself frozen out at Pride Park, but his input is desperately needed at the KC stadium with Hull currently 18th in the table.

The two sides meet tomorrow in a replay of their League Cup match this week, with Martin set to sit that game out. He'll be in contention for his first start against Ipswich on September 15th.

Martin has scored 54 times in 125 league starts for Derby since joining on a free transfer in 2013, but he managed just one strike last season. That led to a brief loan with Reading, where he struck once in ten outings.

He started his career at Norwich and has also represented Luton Town, Swindon and Crystal Palace in a career that has brought 372 senior appearances and 125 goals.

The Verdict

Martin looked off the pace last season, but prior to that his goal scoring record speaks for itself. He was lethal in his time at Derby and Nigel Adkins will be hoping he can do the same for Hull.

They need goals, they've scored just one at home this season and look to have a season of struggle ahead of them. 20 goals from Martin would go some way to alleviating the threat of a bottom three finish.
