Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Barry Bannan from Crystal Palace on a one-year deal, the club have confirmed.
The 25-year old passed a medical for the Owls and has sorted out the terms of his permanent move.
Bannan was in the final 12 months of his Palace contract and manager Alan Pardew was willing to let the Scotland international leave, as he was deemed as surplus to requirements, following the arrival of Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain, earlier in the summer.
The midfielder has attracted the interest from several clubs, including QPR, Brighton and Nottingham Forest who were all keen on signing the player.
Having joined Palace tw0 years ago from Aston Villa, Bannan has been unable to secure a first-team place and was sent on loan to Bolton last campaign for three months.
The Owls currently sit in 15th place in the Sky Bet Championship, after a mixed start to the 2015/16 campaign.
