Coventry City have bolstered their defence by signing 21-year-old Middlesbrough defender Adam Jackson on a one month emergency loan deal, the club has confirmed on their official website.

The centre-back joins fellow Middlesbrough loanee Bryn Morris at the Ricoh Arena, and will go straight into Coventry’s under-21 side in their game against Queens Park Rangers today.

The 21-year-old is a graduate of Boro’s academy and has featured for England at under-17 and under-19 levels, winning the Victory Shield in 2010 with the under 17’s.

Jackson will be familiar with his new manager having worked with City boss Tony Mowbray at Middlesbrough in 2013.

Mowbray said to the official site: “Adam is a player who I know from my time at Middlesbrough and I was really impressed by him during my time at the club. We’re bringing him in to have a closer look at him in training and Under-21s games to see how he has progressed over the last few years.

He’s a young centre-half who has some great attributes and I hope he can come here and impress during his time at the club.”

Jackson will hope to break into the Coventry’s first team and contribute to a promising start to the season for the Sky Blues, who currently sit fourth in League One after taking 13 points from their first seven games.
