Sky Bet League One outfit Coventry City have confirmed the signing of free agent Yakubu Aiyegbeni on a deal until the end of the season.

This arrival follows reports suggesting the 34-year-old had been training with the Sky Blues.

The striker has wealth of Premier League games on his CV, having spent time at Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton and Blackburn Rovers, alongside Reading two years ago.

Yakubu moved to England in 2003 when he signed for Portsmouth following a successful loan period at Fratton Park. His time on the south coast lasted two seasons before heading up to the other end of the country to join Middlesbrough.

He scored 25 goals in 73 appearances on Teeside as he signed for Everton in 2007, where he would spend four years at.

Following a spell in China, Yakubu arrived at Reading. Still, after just one goal for the Royals, he was released and has most recently spent his career in Turkey.

The former Premier League forward signs on at Coventry City with 57 caps for the Nigeria national team and decided to retire from international football in 2012.

The Sky Blues have also confirmed that their newest arrival will wear the number 22 shirt.
