Leeds United have confirmed the signing of FC Twente’s Mateusz Klich this morning, with the midfielder becoming Thomas Christiansen’s first signing since his appointment as head-coach.

The 27-year old arrives at Elland Road on the three-year deal, after the Whites fought off interest from a number of other clubs to secure Klich’s signature.

Klich is a Polish international, having made ten appearances for the national side, and arrives in West Yorkshire on the back of an excellent season with FC Twente in the Dutch Eredivisie.

During the 2016/17 campaign, Klich made 29 appearances, scoring six goals and assisting a further four, as Twente finished the season in seventh.

Speaking just moments after sealing his switch to the Championship, Klich said: “I am very happy to have signed for such a huge club and I’m looking forward to playing in the famous white shirt.

“I’m excited to come to England and test myself in the Championship and I can’t wait to get going.

“The team came close to promotion last season so hopefully we can go one better and I’m looking forward to meeting my new team mates next week and getting started.”

It has been a productive summer for Leeds so far, with the club securing a number of deals already.

Ronaldo Vieira, the club’s talented teenage midfielder, has agreed a long-term contract at Elland Road. And the Whites have also secured the permanent signing of Hadi Sacko, who impressed whilst on-loan last season.

Pontus Jansson, another of last season’s loan stars, is expected to complete a permanent move to Leeds at the start of July, after agreeing a three-year deal at Elland Road earlier in 2017.
