Sky Bet League One outfit Chesterfield have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2016/17 campaign by completing the signing of Grimsby Town midfielder Jon Nolan, the club has confirmed on their official website.
Nolan was a key figure in the Mariners team that won promotion from the National League via the play-offs and makes the transfer marks his first foray into the Football League as a player.
Chesterfield improved drastically under the stewardship of Danny Wilson last season, with relegation seeming certain when he first took over. The club will be keen to ensure they consolidate a position closer to the middle of the table during the next campaign.
Nolan has opted not to extend his deal with Grimsby despite a successful season and makes the immediate leap to the third tier, where he will join up with his new team-mates for the start of pre-season training.
The 24-year-old who has previously played for Stockport County, Lincoln City and Wrexham, becomes the Derbyshire-based club’s second summer signing following the arrival of Kristian Dennis.
