Newly promoted Championship side Burton Albion have broken their club record fee, by signing highly rated MK Dons defender Kyle McFadzean, the club have confirmed.

The Brewers, who were promoted to the second tier for the first time in their history have signed the 29-year-old on a three deal, as they look to sustain their Championship status.

The fee is undisclosed however beats the previous highest paid fee by the club, for midfielder Russell Penn back in 2009 for £20k.

McFadzean was said to be subject to a lot of interest from League One clubs, with the defender was set for a move back to his home town to join Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United.

But McFadzean said to the club site: “The gaffer was a big reason for me to come here and play Championship football again. The gaffer believes in me and I can’t wait to get started.”

McFadzean has had some Championship experience with the Dons, and made 80 appearances ever since joining the club from Crawley Town in 2014.

He has also represented his country, playing for the England C team twice.

So…what do you think Burton fans? Is he a good signing in your eyes? Can you see Nigel Clough keeping you in the Championship this year? Has he done enough as far as signings are considered? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
