Carlisle United have signed former Tottenham defender Alexander McQueen, the club have confirmed.
The 20-year-old, who arrives at Brunton Park on a one-year deal, came through the Spurs youth academy, appearing as a regular in the Development Squad – he was also included in the Spurs squad that faced Benfica in the Europa League in March 2014.
The defender, who can cover both right and left back roles, can also feature in central midfield, giving the Cumbrians versatility ahead of next season .
Carlisle head of recruitment, Lee Dykes, said to the club site: “Alex is a player we have tracked for a number of years. I first saw him play an U21 game for Spurs away at Sunderland and I was very impressed.
“He played right back on that occasion but I’ve also seen him play in a number of other positions. He can play on the left or the right and he’s comfortable with both feet.
“He’s a very quick player who is athletic and who has a youthful energy about him. he is very laid back off the field but he’s ready for combat as soon as he crosses that white line.”
Dykes also added that he was impressed with his consistent performances for the Tottenham Under 21 squad.
The Cumbrians have now made ten new additions to their squad, after the news earlier today that the League Two side have also snapped up former QPR winger Angelo Balanta on a short term deal.
