Done Deal: Cardiff City sign 32-year-old journeyman

Cardiff City have announced on their official website that experienced defender Greg Halford has joined the club.

Greg Halford joins the Bluebirds from the Championship’s bottom club Rotherham United for an undisclosed fee, with the move still subject to international clearance.

The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a one and a half year deal which will see him stay in South Wales until the summer of 2018.

Halford is a versatile player, who primarily operates at right back or centre back.

He has also been known to fill in across the midfield and even as a striker when needed.

The former England under-20 international started his career at Colchester United, where he played over 150 games, before stints at Reading, Sunderland, Charlton, Sheffield United, Wolves, Portsmouth, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Rotherham and Birmingham.

Halford is reunited with Neil Warnock, who he played under at Rotherham last season and he becomes Cardiff’s first January signing.

Cardiff fans – what do you make of this signing? Is this the type of player you wanted to come in? Who else do you need to buy? Let us know in the comments below…
