Done Deal: Cardiff City land 27-year-old striker from Championship outfit

Cardiff City have enhanced their promotion credentials by completing the deadline day signing of Bolton Wanderers striker Gary Madine, the Bluebirds have confirmed on their official website.
Neil Warnock has been chasing the striker for the duration of January and tonight he has finally landed the 27-year-old, who has put pen-to-paper on a deal which will run until the summer of 2021.
The ex-Sheffield Wednesday talisman has netted 10 goals for Bolton during the campaign and his energetic displays for the Trotters have clearly gone a long way towards impressing City boss Warnock.
The Welsh outfit are currently flying high in the Championship, sitting three points away from second-placed Derby County with a game in hand on the Rams.
It now remains to be seen whether or not Cardiff have anything else up their sleeve as the clock runs down on the January transfer window but nonetheless the signing of Madine offers them something different in attack for the remainder of the season.
The Verdict
Madine isn’t really a prolific striker but he will offer Cardiff City strength in depth moving forwards.
During his time at Sheffield Wednesday he was a goal machine as the Owls won promotion from League One to the Championship and any manager who can get the 27-year-old to recapture that form has a real player on their hands.
Warnock will hope he is that manager and Madine will undoubtedly be looking to add to the 10 goals he already has to his name this season.
