Burton have completed the signing of Australian international midfielder Jackson Irvine for a club record fee, the Brewers have confirmed on their official website.
The fee remains undisclosed but the 23-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the club to help them with their first season in the Championship.
Irvine, who has represented his country on four occasions, becomes Burton’s third signing of the summer, joining defenders Ben Turner and Kyle McFadzean in moving to the Pirelli Stadium.
After moving around a number of clubs in his homeland as a youth, Irvine completed a move to Scottish giants Celtic in 2012 after impressing on trial.
However, game time was hard to come by for the Australian and he found himself out on loan to Kilmarnock and Ross County, a club he later joined permanently in 2015.
The Brewers will start their first season in the second tier with a trip to Nottingham Forest, a former club of manager Nigel Clough’s.
