Bristol City have confirmed on their official website that they have signed Liam Walsh from Everton.
Liam Walsh joins Bristol City on a permanent deal and bolsters their midfield ahead of a promotion bid.
After completing a medical at Ashton Gate, the 20-year-old puts pen to paper on a two and a half year deal with the Robins, keeping him with the Championship side until the summer of 2020.
Bristol City’s new number 12 did not sign in time to make his debut for the club against Watford today in the FA Cup but he is available to play his first game in red in midweek when Lee Johnson’s men take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
The diminutive midfield plays as a holding midfielder but can play further forward in central midfield.
The former England under-18 midfielder never managed to play a senior game for the Toffees in any competition despite being highly rated by the Merseyside outfit.
However, Walsh has previously spent time out on loan with Yeovil Town – where he made seventeen appearances and scored one goal.
Earlier this season, the youngster moved to Birmingham City on loan but was not favoured by Steve Cotterill and now he has moved to Bristol City.
Liam Walsh adds a good dimension to Bristol City’s midfield.
Even though he failed to make an impact at Birmingham earlier this season, he has plenty of potential and with a run of games behind him in the Championship, his improvement will be noticeable.
I am surprised that Everton have let him go permanently but Bristol City appear to have beaten a few teams to his signature.
