Bristol City have secured the signing of Norwich City midfielder Gary O’Neil on a free transfer, according to the club’s official website.
The midfielder has signed a two-year deal at Ashton Gate after passing a medical in Bristol yesterday.
The 33-year-old was a regular in the Canaries midfield last season – appearing 31 times in the Premier League, but was unable to help them maintain their top-flight status.
Norwich boss, Alex Neil was keen to keep the midfielder at the club and offered him a new deal, but he has chosen to undertake a new challenge with Bristol City.
O’Neil is a experienced midfielder, who has had a successful career after making 400 appearances for five different clubs and has been promoted from the Championship on four occasions.
He becomes the Robins second summer signing after swooping on Preston North End midfielder Josh Brownhill.
O’Neil will begin training with the Robins squad next month in preparation for the new 2016/2017 Championship campaign.
